General Information:

Tumour markers depend to a greater or lesser extent on the size of a tumour, i. E. are not suitable for early diagnosis / in small tumour volume - tumour markers may be normal values /.

Tumour markers are in most cases suitable for follow-up after surgical intervention or other therapy (in the case of total tumour removal, and in the absence of metastases, tumour marker values are reduced to normal, any new increase in tumour value is indicative for recurrence.

The CA 15-3 marker would show results in:

  • carcinoma of the mammary gland
  • metastasized pancreatic, ovarian, colon, lung, stomach, uterine carcinomas.
