General information:

There is a serological difference between the erythrocytes of different individuals and classifies them into one of four groups depending on the presence of A or B antigens: A, B, O or AB.

The ABO system and RhD antigens are extremely important in blood transfusions and for hemolytic disease of the newborn in ABO and/or RhD incompatibility between mother and fetus.

Determination of blood group according to "medical indications" is carried out in case of:

  • Patients who are about to undergo surgery; 
  • To all pregnant women and their husbands;
  • Prenatal and postnatal diagnosis of Hemolytic disease of the newborn in ABO and Rh incompatibility between mother and fetus;
  • At the request of the patient;
