Hepatitis B (HBV) - DNA quantitative
General Information:
The infection is sexually transmitted, blood transfusions, medical manipulations and is transmitted from mother to child. The incubation period is up to 6 months.
HBV DNA demonstration with quantitative PCR Real Time method (real-time polymerase chain reaction). Perform a quantitative determination of the virus DNA in copies/ml equivalent to an international standard in relevant international units/ml (IU / ml). The presence of HBV DNA is an indicator of viral replication and the corresponding high infectivity. This method quantifies DNA in:
- all HBsAg positive patients;
- all HBsAg positive patients;
- in most anti-HBsAg positive patients;
- in some cases DNA was also detected in HbsAg negative samples but positive for anti-Hbc IgG - in the so-called & quot;
- occult hepatitis B virus infections;
for monitoring therapy with pegylated interferon alpha or nucleoside analogues.
