General information:

Hepatitis C is an infection that mainly affects the liver. The causative agent of the disease is the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis C often has no symptoms, but chronic infection can lead to the formation of scar tissue (dysfunctional scar-like tissue) on the surface of the liver, and after years to cirrhosis.
Hepatitis C is mainly transmitted through blood.
This test is used to measure the amount of virus.
