Toxoplasma gondii IgM

General information:

Toxoplasma gondii is a single-celled parasite that causes the disease toxoplasmosis.
When infected with the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, the body's immune system forms antibodies. The titer and type of these antibodies can indicate whether the infection is old or new. Several tests may need to be done over several weeks.
Cats play a major role in the transmission of the infection. Infection occurs through contact with them, non-observance of hand hygiene, consumption of poorly washed and thermally processed food.
The highest risk of severe toxoplasmosis exists in pregnant women, newborns of mothers infected with the parasite and people with suppressed immunity (patients on chemotherapy, HIV, immunosuppressive therapy).
