Leishmaniasis - Leishmania infantum IgG + IgM
General information:
Leishmaniasis is a transmissible disease caused by a single-celled parasite of the genus Leishmania. The vectors of the parasite are insects of the genus Phlebotomus (Lutzmania). Several forms of the disease have been described - cutaneous, mucocutaneous, visceral - with involvement of internal organs. Infection occurs when the insects bite, and they themselves are infected by sick people and animals - mainly dogs, foxes, jackals, and also rodents.
IgM and IgG antibodies against the parasite are tested.
