Urethral swab - cultural + Trichomonas vaginalis DNA
General information:
Microbiological examination of urethral discharge is required in cases of complaints such as itching, dysuria, secretion, rash in the genital area, sterility problems, infections in the partner, before urological operations.
Urethral secretion is taken after preliminary hygiene of the penis and hands with a thin urological swab by a specialist.
Testing of Trichomonas vaginalis DNA is performed by PCR.
Trichomoniasis in men:
♦ Acute urethritis occurs in only 5% of those infected and occurs with copious, yellowish, pus-like discharge from the urethra;
♦ More often it occurs subacutely with the classic morning drop, accompanied by mild itching, burning during urination;
♦ In 25-30% of cases we are talking about asymptomatic carrier, but it is very important for transmitting the infection. Microbiological examination of ejaculate/semen/ is necessary in cases of complaints such as itching, dysuria, secretion, rash in the genital area, sterility problems, infections in the partner, before urological operations;

Prostatitis:

- C. trachomatis

- T. vaginalis
Epididymitis:
- C.trachomatis (especially < 35 years)
- N. gonorrhoeae
- Enterobacteriaceae
- Enterococci
- P.aeruginosa
