Standard antibiogram
General Information:
The exact cause of an infectious disease could be determined, which also allows the use of an antibiotic to which the particular causative agent is most sensitive to. For the proper conduction of the microbiological study, it is important to have the material taken before starting antibiotic treatment and to protect the sample from contamination.
The microbiological study is conducted to identify different types of bacteria that cause infectious diseases. Since these bacteria have different requirements with respect to the environment in which they grow, microbiological studies use different methods to detect them. Most commonly, the biological products and fluids to be tested are: nose - throat secretion, sputum, wound secretion, blood and blood products, urine, vaginal and cervical secretion, ear secretion, etc. The seed is applied to special media that provide the best conditions for bacterial growth. The bacterial colony is then tested with various antibiotics, the result being presented in an antibiotic. It shows the susceptibility of the microorganism to the tested antibiotics and indicates those that are likely to give the best therapeutic outcome. This avoids prolonged ineffective treatment with test antibiotics and reduces the likelihood of resistance (resistance) to the antibiotic preparation.
When you isolate a pathogen, we recommend an antibiotic, appropriate to the cause, to perform an effective treatment. The standard antibiotic includes 6 antibiotics that are suitable for treatment against the micro-organism isolated in the particular patient. Therefore, the antibiogram is an individual and specifically assigned study! The research can be done in a health fund or paid.
If you or your treating physician wants an antibiogram, please report this when submitting the material.
If you have taken antibiotics, are allergic to a particular antibiotic, or your doctor wishes to prescribe a specific preparation, please let us know that.
Laborexpress 2000 could test different antibiotics (for intravenous, oral, topical use), which is very important for patients with frequent infections, chronic diseases - when resistance developing is more common.
