General Information:
Microbiological study of ejaculate (sperm) is required in cases of complaints such as itching, dysuria, secretion, genital rash, sterility problems, infections in the partner before urological operations.
Microorganisms responsible for genital infections in males:
Prostatit:
- Enterobacteriaceae
- Enterococci
- P.aeruginosa
- C.trachomatis
- N.gonorrhoeae
- T.vaginalis
Epidimidite:
- C.trachomatis ( особено < 35 г.)
- N.gonorrhoeae
- Enterobacteriaceae
- Enterococci
- P.aeruginosa
Sample Required:
Ejaculate is taken after preliminary hygiene of the penis and the hands. Separation of the material is in a sterile container by self-masturbation. The material should be brought up to 4 hours in the lab.
In case of doubt about gonorrhoea, it is good to bring morning urethral secretion (a common symptom of this infection). It is taken in the morning, before urinating, with a sterile swab carefully.
If the patient prefers to test the urine as well, should give the first portion of freely released urine (about 10-20ml) in a sterile container.
For gonorrhea suspecting cases, the material is important to be taken to the lab is within a few hours, otherwise, false negative results are possible.
