General information:

The test is a rapid immunochromatographic test for the detection of the Campylobacter antigen.
Campylobacteriosis is one of the most common intestinal bacterial infections, which are often confused with viral gastroenteritis, which is why they are not treated and often lead to complications. The main routes of infection are fecal-oral, contact through food and water. Animals are a common source of Campylobacter infection. A natural reservoir for Campylobacter is the intestinal tract of domestic and wild animals. 80% of all bacterial diarrheal infections worldwide are caused by C. jejuni. Epidemic outbreaks develop after consumption of contaminated meat or milk. Contaminated water or ice is also a source of infection.

The early symptoms of the disease are expressed by fever, headache, myalgia, pain in the abdominal area, diarrhea, cramps. Diarrhea is watery at first, but may later contain blood or mucus. The duration of infection is on average 2-10 days. If untreated, patients complain of chronic intestinal complaints and arthritis.
