General information:

Secondary diagnostic testing for myasthenia gravis when the first diagnostic tests are negative. Screening for the presence of thymus in patients with myasthenia gravis. Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by muscle weakness and easy fatigue after physical activity, a consequence of impaired neuromuscular transmission in the striated muscles. The reason for this disorder is due to a reduced number of nicotinic receptors in the postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular synapse, a consequence of the antibodies formed against them.
