Nebennieren - AB
General information:
The adrenal antibody test measures the presence of adrenal autoantibodies in the blood. These are autoantibodies that attack one's own structures in this case, the adrenal glands. This test is used in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients suspected of having autoimmune adrenal insufficiency.
A manifestation of this autoimmune form is Addison's disease. Addison's disease is a rare disorder of a hormonal or endocrine nature that is caused by reduced or absent production of adrenal hormones. The other names for the condition are adrenal insufficiency and hypocorticism. It occurs in all age groups and affects both sexes.
