General information:

Gives information about pregnancy confirmation or as part of congenital defects screening.
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) can be tested in the blood or urine. Some hCG tests measure its exact quantity, while others determine its presence. Human chorionic gonadotropic hormone (hCG) is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. The hCG assay is routinely used for pregnancy confirmation or as part of a congenital defect screening.

  • HCG in the blood.

An HCG blood test is conducted to detect hCG or quantify it. The blood test is conducted for normal or abnormal pregnancy or for cancer screening.

  • Urinalysis of HCG

The human chorionic gonadotropic hormone can also be tested in the urine. This is the so-called routine pregnancy test that takes place at home. This test does not measure the exact amount of hCG, but indicates that hCG is released.
