General information:

A cortisol level study is conducted to detect abnormalities in the adrenal gland or pituitary, as in Cushing's syndrome.
The test measures cortisol levels in 24 hours urine. Cortisol is a hormone that is produced by the adrenal glands. Normal levels of cortisol contribute to the proper functioning of the immune system, the body's response to stress, glucose levels, blood pressure.


Cortisol testing is recommended for the diagnosis of Cushing syndrome / Cushing syndrome. Cortisol levels change overnight. The urine test gives a more accurate / average / cortisol reading for 24 hours compared to those in blood sampling / sampling /
Conditions such as pregnancy, stress, certain medications, hormone therapy may reflect on cortisol levels.


A container (sterile) is required. First morning urine (8 hours) is discarded and then the whole quantity is collected for the next 24 hours. Store at room temperature. To be delivered after 24 hours in the laboratory.
