Laborexpres ANEMIA
General information
Diagnostic Package “Anemia”
The “Anemia” diagnostic package is designed for preventive and targeted testing in cases of suspected anemia. It includes essential laboratory markers that provide a complete assessment of blood formation, iron stores, and possible vitamin deficiencies. All tests are performed from venous blood, in the morning, on an empty stomach.
What’s included in the package?
1. Complete Blood Count (CBC-22)
A fundamental test for evaluating anemia. It measures red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and additional indices that help determine the type of anemia (iron deficiency, megaloblastic, etc.).
2. Serum Iron
Shows the amount of circulating iron in the blood. Low levels are typical for iron deficiency anemia, especially common in women with heavy menstrual bleeding, pregnant women, or individuals with low dietary iron intake.
3. TIBC (Total Iron-Binding Capacity)
Indicates the blood’s ability to transport iron. Together with serum iron, it helps determine whether the issue is iron deficiency, impaired absorption, or altered iron metabolism.
4. Vitamin B12
Essential for normal blood formation and nervous system function. Deficiency may lead to megaloblastic anemia, often accompanied by numbness, memory issues, and severe fatigue.
5. Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)
Required for DNA synthesis and cell division. Low levels cause folate deficiency anemia, often seen in pregnancy, poor diet, or chronic gastrointestinal conditions.
6. Ferritin
The most reliable marker of iron stores in the body. Ferritin decreases long before serum iron, making it crucial for early detection of deficiency.
What it represents: Transferrin saturation indicates the percentage of the transport protein transferrin that is saturated with iron. It is one of the most accurate markers for assessing the amount of iron available for physiological use in the body.
