General information:

Protein C is a vitamin K dependent glycoprotein that plays an important role in the regulation of blood clot formation. When damage to a tissue or blood vessel restricts the clotting process at the site of injury. Protein C normally circulates in inactive form and is activated by binding to thrombin (coagulation factor). Its blood level is significantly reduced with the use of indirect anticoagulants such as Warfarin.
