General Information:

The most uric acid (about 2/3) is eliminated from the body through the urine, and the rest of the stool.

If too much uric acid is formed or the kidneys do not function normally, this results in accumulation.

Accumulation of uric acid in the body leads to an increase in blood concentration (hyperuricemia), which can lead to the development of gout - a disease that builds up uric acid crystals in the joint fluid.

Uric acid can also accumulate in other tissues, such as kidney, which may lead to nephrolithiasis or renal failure.

Approximately 80% of patients with elevated serum triglyceride levels are also found to have increased blood uric acid concentrations.

Sample Required:

Venous blood in the morning in fasting
