Triglycerides
General information:
Triglycerides are esters of the trivalent alcohol glycerol. Due to poor solubility, triglycerides (as well as cholesterol and cholesterol esters) occur in serum exclusively bound in lipoproteins.
Elevated triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia):
- Pregnancy, ovulation suppressants
- Primary hyperlipoproteinemias as a result of delayed exchange of chylomicrons or VLDL in plasma.
- Secondary lipid disorders - diabetes mellitus, nephrotic syndrome, hypothyroidism, alcoholism, obesity, pancreatitis, etc.
- Decreased triglyceride (hypothyreceridemia):
Chronic malnutrition, severe chronic diseases, malabsorption conditions, etc.
SAMPLE REQUIRED:
Venous blood in the morning in fasting
