Total Bilirubin
General information:
Bilirubin is the main pigment in bile juice. Daily around 250-300 mg of bilirubin are formed in the human body. About 80% of this amount originates from the degradation of hemoglobin released by the degradation of obsolete erythrocytes. The remaining 15-20% of the formed bilirubin are the result of the degradation of hem-containing enzymes (cytichromes, catalases, peroxidases), myoglobin, and so on.
