Еstimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR)
General information
eGFR stands for estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate. It’s a test used to check how well your kidneys are working. Specifically, it estimates how much blood your kidneys filter each minute. The result is calculated from a blood test for creatinine, taking into account your age, sex, and sometimes ethnicity.
-
A normal eGFR is usually above 90 mL/min/1.73 m².
-
Values below 60 could indicate possible chronic kidney disease, especially if they persist for more than 3 months.
-
An eGFR under 15 might mean kidney failure and usually calls for specialist care.
- Sampling: venous blood
