General Information:

Selenium is one of the most important microelements in the human body because of its unique antioxidant properties and its role in thyroid function. Selenium is involved in many biochemical processes and is indispensable in its qualities. It is contained in large quantities in nuts (especially Brazil nuts), seafood, meat, cereals. Selenium is a cofactor of many proteins, i. E. participate in their structure. Selenoproteins are formed which have antioxidant properties and protect DNA from damage. It in combination with vitamin E is one of the most powerful known antioxidant combinations. Selenium is involved in the most important enzyme, glutathione peroxidase, which disables free radicals and thus protects cells from oxidative stress.
