General Information:

Lithium ions are used to treat depression and other neuroses. The lithium ion is absorbed almost completely by conventional formulations, but to a lesser extent by retardants. It quickly enters the circulating volume, and then at a slower rate in the entire fluid space of the body. It is excreted via the kidney via the sodium ion mechanisms. Therefore, the poor diet of a salt diet leads to lithium retention.
