General information:
Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is an amino acid glycoprotein that plays a key role in lipid metabolism. It is mainly synthesized in the liver and brain, but is also localized in the kidneys or spleen.
It is used in the diagnosis of diseases of fat metabolism - hyperlipoproteinemia type III, Alzheimer's disease.
